You will discover unique plant collections in Hortus botanicus Leiden, the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands. Special plants are on display here all year round, including crown jewels such as the Victoria amazonica, the Chinese lotus, carnivorous plants and tropical orchids.
The Hortus consists of four hectares of gardens. It is divided into gardens with different areas of interest, such as a Japanese garden, a Chinese herb garden, a fern garden, a garden of medicinal plants (the Clusius Garden) and a system garden, where you can learn more about plant systematics.
The Hortus Grand Café is the ideal place for a coffee and cake or lunch after visiting the garden and shop.
