In 1890, a round stone belt mill was erected as a water oil mill. In 1909, a sawmill was connected to the mill. Around 1920, the oil mill was taken out of operation, but during the crisis period it was used again until around 1946. The gristmill and sawmill remained in use until around 1957.
The mill was close to being demolished. In the 1970s the mill was dismantled and in 1989 the municipality of Deurne applied for a demolition permit. Fortunately, the Holtens Molen Foundation took care of the mill.
The phased restoration was completed in 1998. Since then, the mill has been in regular operation again, grinding grain and producing oil. In mid-2006, work began on the construction of the wind-powered sawmill. In September 2008, this work was completed and Holten's Mill has now regained its original three functions: grain milling, oil milling and wood sawing.
