The Gouverneurshuis (Governor's Mansion) is a beautiful monumental building in which you will find a surprising museum. The collection tells the story of the fortified town of Heusden. On the basis of prints, paintings, old maps, water board glasses and old coins, you can follow the history of the Land van Altena. The house is also a location for culture. In the decades after the Second World War, Heusden blossomed into a city of artists. Therefore, you will find various works of art and culture here. You can enjoy theatre, film, cabaret, music and lectures. Admission is free for individual visitors.
The Governor's garden is also worth a look! It is a walled garden with fruit trees, rose beds and benches for the best views. Regularly, the garden is offered as a stage for sculptures.
Finally, you can also enjoy a cup of coffee on the terrace or lunch in the museum café.
