Erve Hagenvoort, located in the hamlet of Harbrinkhoek, is a typical example of an old Saxon farmyard in Twente. The farm, built in 1770, is known for its simple and characteristic appearance. This type of farm, the so-called Hallehuistype, has been characteristic of the region for centuries.
The farmyard is surrounded by oak trees and has several outbuildings, including a half-timbered barn, summerhouse, henhouse and an authentic agricultural shed. The agricultural barn in particular stands out with its truss construction and sections of half-timbering. This barn was restored some 30 years ago, although the arched ridge door has yet to be refurbished. The chicken coop was restored in 2015, which helped preserve the original look of the yard.
What makes Erve Hagenvoort special is the age of the buildings. The inscription in a Beintheimer well refers to habitation from 1770 onwards. Although the farmhouse is currently used as a residence, the yard still has a recognisable, historical appearance typical of Twente's agricultural building style.
