Het Blauwe Meertje (Blue Lake) - Weert
Het Blauwe Meertje lives up to its name: the lake is clear blue. How come? The bottom is made of white sand and because the water has few fine particles, it reflects the sunlight perfectly. This creates the beautiful blue colour.
The lake was created by sand excavations from the Central Sand Reclamation Weert. Water accumulated in the dug hole. In cooperation with the municipality, the organisation decided to open the lake for recreation.
It is now a lovely place to relax and recreate in summer. Palm trees, deck chairs and parasols have been installed, there is a nice terrace and a real cocktail bar, where cyclists and walkers like to take a seat for a refreshing refreshment.
