Grintenbosch naturally owes its name to the gravel in the ground here. Apparently, this was no impediment to its construction. In the 19th century, Grintenbosch was laid out in English landscape style with interesting winding paths, stately beech avenues and solitary trees getting all the attention. As dead trees are full of life, dead trees are not removed from the forest. Plants, mushrooms, woodpeckers and insects make grateful use of them. Primary schools are taught about nature from the Kateaker information shed (Twents for squirrel).
