Before this mill was built in 1896, the inhabitants of Hapert had to rely on mills in the surrounding area to grind their grain. This mill was built with parts of mills that had been demolished elsewhere.
In 1970, the mill was bought by the then municipality of Hoogeloon, who had it restored in 1972 and 1974. Originally, the mill had two pairs of grinding stones. Due to leakage of the cap, one pair was frozen to pieces and later removed.
Corn is still ground regularly, on a voluntary basis. When the mill is in operation, you can always drop in to take a look.
