Graft town hall - Graft

N 52.5624158 / E 4.8318557

Prince Maurits commissioned the construction of this former town hall. By 1613, it was finished. The building is a good example of the Dutch Renaissance style, recognisable by the combination of brick and natural stone, and decorations of masonry, blocks of sandstone, gable stones and carved figures.

For many years it served as the town hall of the village of Graft. When in 1970 Graft and De Rijp formed one municipality, the Town Hall was renamed a wedding and museum location.

The Town Hall houses an annex of the Museum In 't Houten Huis: the Museum of Schermer Island. With changing exhibitions, culture and art pieces, the unique history of De Rijp and its surroundings is told.
