This tulip bulb was painted by Leon Roodenburg. In his career, he began as an abstract painter, after which he gradually started working more and more figuratively. He likes to paint sea and beach, but other landscapes, portraits, furniture, lamps and three-dimensional works are also in his repertoire.
For this Giant Bulb, he was inspired by growing tulip flowers in water. This involves pinning tulip bulbs onto water containers, after which the flowers continue to rise. During a trip to the Norwegian fjords, Roodenburg came up with the idea of painting tulip bulbs rising from the water like huge mountains. Combined with the reflections in the serene Norwegian waters, this gave a special effect. He expressed that inspiration on this Giant Bulb.
You will find the Giant Bulb in front of the entrance to the Van Zyverden company, which has also adopted the artwork.
