This giant tulip bulb was commissioned by AkzoNobel, a multinational paint and lacquer company based in the bulb region. A company specialising in colour, in the most colourful region of the Netherlands; that is of course a perfect match.

Artist Judith van der Meer was asked to paint this tulip bulb. She specialises in murals and is inspired by nature. The colours you encounter in nature are often so bright and expressive that you need a rich paint full of deep pigments to match it in a work of art. The result shines on the grounds of AkzoNobel in Sassenheim.
