Giant bulb | Black Tulip - Vincent van Gogh - Lisse
This giant tulip bulb was painted by artist Michel Hoogervorst, born in Sassenheim in 1961. He uses many contrasts in his work: organised lines and organic forms, taut and loose, stationary and agile.... With his own visual language, Hoogervorst makes you think. Is the image right? And what does it mean?
What we know is that the place where Hoogervorst grew up - Sassenheim - is also home to the Sikkens Paint Factory. With a painting of flowers and paint on a bulb, his own roots merge beautifully.
This large tulip bulb, part of art project GIANT TULIP BULBS, gives a year-round view of the bulb fields. You will find it in the garden of the premises of CNB, the company that has also adopted the tulip bulb.
