Founded in 1848 by the Franciscan Sisters, the Former Nazareth Convent in Gemert served for many years as a convent and school for poor girls. The complex included a Waterside Chapel, convent gardens and a Marian grotto, giving it an important role in the community.
After years of decay, the chapel was restored and reopened as a meeting centre in 2022. Thanks to volunteers and funds, it now serves as a venue for cultural and social activities, giving the monastery renewed significance for Gemert.
