You are now standing on the Vismarkt of Culemborg. From 1519 the fish banks were moved to this spot and from the end of the eighteenth century until 1940 fresh fish was sold every Friday in the Fish Market.
The town crier walked through all streets to let all inhabitants know what fish was for sale and when it was sold. The last town crier of Culemborg was Van Empel, his statue is in front of the fish market. Scan the QR code at the statue for more information about this special place.
