In this open-air museum in Schoonoord, Drenthe, you will learn everything about the past and about living in this region. From the first sod hut to the modern houses of around 1920.
Imagine yourself in the history of Drenthe as you stroll among the historic houses, the print shop, vegetable garden, the croft and the sweet shop. Take a look at the exhibition farm, the spinning mill or the little church where you can actually get married.
After your visit to the open-air museum, you'll know once and for all whether the giants at the entrance gate, Ellert and Brammert, who according to legend lived under the Ellertseveld, actually had anything to do with the disappearance of the village of Orvelterveen.
