The Dutch Wine Centre in Groesbeek is the result of a local initiative by Groesbeek sports lecturer Freek Verhoeven (1946-2018), which has grown into a professional wine knowledge and experience centre. If you love wine, then a visit to the Wine Centre is a real must!
Freek Verhoeven first started with the cultivation of a few grapevines in his backyard, just as a hobby. When the rich soil and hilly landscape of Groesbeek proved to be the perfect combination for growing wine, he got four other farmers on board to enter the world of wine as well. This created the need for a professional production company, where farmers could have their grapes pressed, have their wines tested and where they could exchange knowledge. That became the Dutch Wine Centre. Set up by Freek Verhoeven himself.
In 2017, the centre officially opened and has since grown into a location where you can experience the full experience of wine. Various themed activities are organised. You can sit down on the wine terrace and find a wine shop where you can quietly rummage around for a tasty souvenir. Drop by for a guided tour and tasting, a vineyard dinner, or enrol in one of the wine courses.
