Delve into the history of wall tiles and tile tableaux. The Dutch Tile Museum in Otterlo has the largest and most versatile collection of Dutch tiles and ceramics.
You will see tile art from the late Middle Ages to modern designs. Admire the permanent collections such as 'The Happy Elephant', a collection that decorated the holiday home of Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard for many years. Antique old Dutch tiles, a room dedicated to Helene Kröller-Müller, who collected more than 175 hand-painted tiles, and a modern tile collection are also on permanent display.
Each season, the permanent collections are complemented by changing exhibitions. From tiles from various art movements to depictions of Dutch heritage. You name it, you will see a tile of it in this museum!
Not only are the tiles beautiful to look at, they also give you a picture of five centuries of art, culture and history in the Netherlands. Each tile has its own backstory. And all in such a simple building material... Be surprised and inspired by tile art at the Dutch Tile Museum in Otterlo.
