Deer Park Veendam - Veendam
The Deer Park was laid out between 1915 and 1920 as part of the Veendam street plan at the time. The park became a permanent feature of the Veenlust country estate, a place known for its green and stately appearance.
Monumental buildings were constructed around the deer park, all built in the same style, such as the school building of the former Mulo and various characteristic houses. This still gives the area a unique, historic atmosphere.
For many Veendammers, the deer park is not just a piece of green, but a place full of memories. It is an oasis of calm in the city, where you can escape the hustle and bustle. At the same time, it evokes nostalgia, because who didn't go there as a child on a Sunday afternoon with a piece of stale bread to feed the deer?
