In 1485, there was a medieval farmstead here that was owned by Johan van Oldebarneveldt, among others. This homestead no longer exists; the current building dates from 1939. Nevertheless, it is more than worth a visit, as it has no less than twenty national monuments.
Whereas on other country estates gardens were changed to the English landscape style in the 19th century, here the geometric baroque garden, complete with statues, has been partly preserved. The oldest oak tree in Rotterdam can also be found here.
