The first mill at this location was a ground-sailer from 1789. This unfortunately burned down in 1910. A polder mill built in 1776 that had become redundant was then bought. The parts were brought to Vreeland by water, with the heavy mill beams forming the raft for the other parts. At its present site, the mill was assembled into a rack corn mill.
From 1926 until the 1990s, the mill was owned by the Schuurman family. They had a cattle feed business and used the mill for grinding cattle feed. In 1999, the mill was substantially restored and the surrounding area was also addressed. The mill is again in full use on a voluntary basis to grind corn into flour for local bakers.
