De Oversteekplaats - Wilp
On 12 April 1945, a military operation called Operation Cannonshot was launched by the Canadian Allies. They began by crossing the IJssel near Gorssel to form a bridgehead and allow amphibious vehicles (Buffaloes) through to liberate the Veluwe. Dozens of Canadian soldiers lost their lives in the process. A plaque has been placed in their memory.
