The Life Gardens of the Groot Hontschoten in Teuge are a special place full of peace and beauty. On a 1.6-hectare site, you walk past 25 themed gardens, each with its own story and meaning. The gardens take you on a symbolic journey through the different stages of life, from birth to death. Both eastern and western traditions are the sources of inspiration, creating a unique atmosphere. Everywhere you will find beautiful elements such as a teahouse, a Zen garden, waterfalls and special statues that give the place a serene and almost magical feel.
These gardens were founded in the 1990s by Charles van de Nieuwegiessen and the now deceased Hans IJzerman. They transformed an old farmhouse and the surrounding land into a green oasis of peace and reflection. For many, this is a place of reflection and a moment of escape from the everyday.
The gardens are open from spring to autumn, and visitors can enjoy nature, art and the atmospheric teahouse. For current opening hours and events, always check the website.
