De Haandrik lock - Holthone
Lock De Haandrik in Holthone, above Gramsbergen, is an important historical lock that forms part of the Overijssel region's shipping links. The lock is located on the Almelo-De Haandrik Canal, an important waterway connecting Almelo and the Vecht between Gramsbergen and Coevorden. In earlier times, the lock played an important role in shipping traffic that transported peat, agricultural products and other goods. Now, besides facilitating shipping traffic, the De Haandrik lock is especially important in regulating the water level.
