For a long time, there was a paper mill here: the Bovenste Papiermolen, also known as the Hummense Molen. It was built in 1661 as one of the many mills on the Veluwe streams, so that paper could be made using the flowing water.
In the second half of the 19th century, steam engines were introduced, including in the paper mills. The ‘Firma W.A. Sanders Papierfabriek Coldenhove’ served the factory for many years and developed high-quality paper. Today, this is the now enormous factory of Coldenhove Papier. And the watermill? Unfortunately, it has been lost.
