This monumental town hall from 1588, built after the destruction by the Spanish army, is still in use. Iconic is the Furies painting 'The Murder of Oudewater'. A beautiful element of this town hall is the bell dome with swinging bell that is located on the roof. In the past this was used to announce council meetings and court hearings. Did you know that this is also the oldest documented stork's nest in the Netherlands? Namely on the chimney of the town hall.
