This castle in Zaltbommel was once built by order of the Gelderland army captain Maarten van Rossem. Van Rossem was a remarkable man; he ensured that Zaltbommel became independent and the inhabitants were very grateful to him. The enemy looked upon this army commander somewhat differently, as he often turned up in other towns to plunder them.
The house of Van Rossem is now the City Castle of Zaltbommel and can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday. Discover everything about the history of Zaltbommel and the role this army commander played in it.
