The Catharijneconvent was built in the 15th century by and for the Carmelites, a mendicant order. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, it was a hospital. Today, the once simple monastery, with its beautiful light, is full of unique medieval masterpieces. In the Treasure Room, you will see both artisanal and artistic masterpieces by gifted Utrecht silversmiths and the gold and silver of Catholic church treasures. No more begging!
