Johan and Yfke de Dood are already the seventh generation of a family of cane cutters. Johan de Dood has also mastered the trade of thatcher and thus spends some of his time laying thatched roofs on homes and farms.
Apart from cane cutters, Johan and Yfke are also nature managers. On behalf of the Forestry Commission, they ensure that nature is preserved on the 32-hectare farm. They plant, among others, hawthorn, blackthorn and dog rose. Their son Joey helps out as much as possible outside school hours. If all goes well, he will become the eighth generation.
Visitors are generally welcome on their farm, but if you want to be sure of their presence, it is wise to send an email in advance. A tour of their premises costs 10 euros per person.
