Butterfly City Deventer - Deventer
On 3 September 2016, Deventer opened the Butterfly City in Gooikerspark. This garden is specially made for butterflies, bees and bumblebees to spend their entire lives; from the moment they are in their eggs or cocoons, to adult insects.
With 40 species of butterfly bushes, plants for caterpillars, and hiding places for bad weather and winter, the Butterfly City provides everything these insects need.
The Butterfly City is arranged so that both butterflies and visitors can easily find their way around. As a visitor, you not only enjoy the beautiful flowers and the fluttering butterflies, but you also learn more about nature. In this way, the Butterfly Foundation, the organisation behind the butterfly garden, wants to inspire people to choose ‘butterfly-friendly’ options. For example, in your own garden!
