Warmond is proud of its seventeenth-century resident. To honour the famous master painter, artist Jeroen Spijker made a bronze bust of Jan Steen that can be admired in Jan Steenlaan.

Jeroen Spijker (Amstelveen 1967) is a sculptor and art historian who trained at Leiden University. Spijker has also previously made a statue of the young Rembrandt van Rijn, and the smallest work of art in the world: also a statue of Rembrandt, but only 28 micrometres in size. The presentation of the latter artwork took place at Museum de Lakenhal in Leiden.
