The first owner of the house was Gielis van der Boeverijen, which became Bouvigne. That is how the house got its name. The fortified farm was replaced in 1494 by a larger castle. Later, the seven-storey tower was added. Since 1972, the castle has been owned by the Brabantse Delta water board. The castle itself cannot be visited, but it is a wedding location.
There are three different gardens around the castle: a French garden, an English garden and a German garden. These were laid out at the beginning of the 20th century and have been maintained in that style as much as possible. In addition, there is a 17th century orchard that is well worth a visit! The gardens can be visited on weekdays.
