In the middle of the Groningen landscape you will find the Muntendam botanical garden, a hidden gem in the peat landscape. The botanical garden offers a wide variety of nature. You will find swamps, sandy plains and forests, making the area a home for all kinds of animals and plants. In the summer, the flowers are in full bloom and the area is teeming with life.

This beautiful nature reserve offers countless hiking routes, from adventurous paths such as the Mammoetpad to relaxing walks along the water and through wooded areas. During your walk you may just spot a deer or see a rare bird flying past.

For dog lovers, there is even a special ‘Wet Nose’ route, so your four-legged friend can run around to his heart's content. Afterwards, you can relax in the cosy pavilion with a cup of coffee or a delicious lunch, while you look out over the green landscape. Would you like to enjoy the peace and quiet for longer? Then you can spend the night at the small-scale campsite, in the middle of nature.

As a visitor, it is important to respect nature. Stay on the paths so that plants and animals can live undisturbed. Do not leave any litter behind and keep dogs on a lead where necessary. This way, the Botanical Garden will remain a pleasant place for people and animals.
