The Borderland museum in Dinxperlo tells the story of life on the border between the Netherlands and Germany. Housed in an 18th-century building, the museum highlights the history of the border that runs right through the villages of Dinxperlo (Netherlands) and Suderwick (Germany).
The collection consists of authentic materials such as documents, photographs, uniforms, customs objects, contraband and weapons. These objects illustrate the origins of the border, the work of customs, the impact of the world wars and border trade. The museum also organises themed exhibitions and guided tours.
In 2022, the basic exhibition has been expanded with 11 large, colourful panels that highlight in words and images the special history of the border through Dinxperlo and Suderwick. These panels show how decisions in distant capitals affect the daily lives of border residents.
