Bleijenbeek Castle, located on the road from Afferden to Siebengewald in Limburg, has a long history that began in the 14th century and ended tragically in 1945 when the castle was destroyed by an RAF bombing raid. Over the centuries, the castle underwent various expansions and renovations. This resulted in the seventeenth century in an impressive square castle with four wings, surrounding a courtyard. Nowadays, the Limburgs Landschap Foundation manages the estate, which in addition to its historical value also manages the beautiful natural landscape. Now parts of the estate serve as a golf course and villa/apartment complex, taking into account the preservation of nature.
