The bird hide is located in the Sint Anthoniegorzen, one of the most important meadow bird areas in West Brabant. Originally, the meadows lay outside the dikes. The tides of the brackish and salty water of the large open estuaries between the islands of Zeeland therefore had a great influence on the landscape here.

Now it is a reclaimed sea clay area with meadows, deep ditches and surrounded by dykes. In total, it is about 85 hectares in size.

The bird-watching hut was created by the Forestry Commission. It was built in the same style as nearby Fort Sabina. From November to April, you can see a lot of geese and ducks resting here during their migration. When they leave, the first breeding birds return.
