Bed & Breakfast Sterkenburg Castle - Driebergen-Rijsenburg
In the 13th century, Sterkenburg was built by Ernst van Wulven. Like many castle owners at that time, he tried to play off the Utrecht bishop and the count of Gelderland against each other in order to get some political leeway himself.
A few centuries later, the defensive work had developed into a comfortable residence. In 1848, Johan Kneppelhout, the new owner, renovated the house thoroughly. Now, the house has been converted into various residential units, where you can get married, have a cosy stay in the Bed & Breakfast or attend a workshop.
