Enthusiastic guides will tell you everything about shipbuilding in the Golden Age at the Bataviawerf. Here you'll find an authentic reconstruction of the 1628 East India Company ship Batavia. Visit the ship and listen to the best stories about life on board, the VOC and naval hero Michiel de Ruyter.
Experience how old crafts are brought to life: follow the scent of the forge coal fire and make your own nail, take a look in the sculpture shop where it seems that craftsmanship becomes art, learn to tie old sailors' knots and tie your own rope in the rigging shop. Try out various old Dutch games, such as stilt walking or throwing rings.
Come along and discover life in the 17th century in Batavialand; a fun and educational museum for young and old!
