The Bebuurster mill pumped the 320-hectare polder of the former Exmorra-Oost water board from 1882 to 1990, until its task was taken over by a new pumping station. The miller's house next to the mill houses an exhibition on the struggle against water over the past 2,000 years. The cap is clad in zinc and the body in slate tiles.
Today, the mill is still grinding. The Frisians call the mill the ‘Beabuorster Mole’.
