Hans Mes's artwork 'Onder wijzen sporen in de tijd' (Under wise traces in time) connects the history of De Heurne with the image of a railway line in a special way. The design was inspired by the old railway and station along the Varsseveld - Dinxperlo line. The train then passed through De Heurne.
D.J. Keuper, a well-known resident of De Heurne, also plays an important role. He was a teacher, poet, writer and conductor of the brass band ‘Psalm 150’.
Hans Mes used old photos of D.J. Keuper and placed them in a design resembling a filmstrip. This filmstrip is reminiscent of the rails of a railway. The sleepers of the rails gradually change into images from the village's history.
The title of the artwork plays an important role. It is incorporated in the arch of the rails and connects the pictures from the past with the idea of the railway as a symbol of time travel, but also as a reminder of the former railway line.
