Artwork "on the road" - Emmen
This special metal artwork shows a figure holding a bunch of flowers in his right hand, while next to him are a suitcase and a stick. According to artist Jan Ketelaar, the suitcase symbolises the personal history everyone carries with them. The stick represents the support we need in life, and the flowers symbolise the love a person has to give.
Around the statue are boulders, of which 700 will eventually be placed - one for each resident. These boulders, along with engraved poems on the windows, door and facade of the village hall, form an integral part of the artwork and strengthen the connection with the community.
