Artwork Dreams for breakfast - Emmen
The art project ‘Dreams like breakfast’ marks the Toyists' second major feat, following their iconic painting of gas globe “De Stip” in 2010. In April 2012, a group of 13 Toyists began the challenge of transforming the exterior facade of Hotel Ten Cate, covering an area of no less than 600 m², into a colourful work of art that has been an eye-catcher in Emmen ever since.
Within the hotel, the ‘Dreams for Breakfast’ project took shape, where walls were painted with themes that go beyond sleeping and eating. The new Emmen Zoo and the historic village of Noordbarge come together in vivid images, making the hotel's interior a creative ode to the local culture and environment.
