Art work Emmen's Light - Emmen
The artwork ‘Emmen's Light’ consists of three large aluminium spheres, each over 2.5 metres in diameter, which together weigh half a tonne. Each sphere contains a ‘cyclopean eye’ at the top, in which a spotlight is placed. At night, these floodlights illuminate the surroundings with a soft glow, which reflects beautifully in the water of the nearby pond. The light creates an enchanting effect, especially in the branches of the surrounding old beech and oak trees.
Artist Marc Ruijgrok strategically placed the bulbs near a large pond along the railway line between Emmen and Zwolle. The artwork forms a harmonious interplay of light, nature and reflection, making it a unique experience for passers-by, especially in the evening hours.
