When the Amsterdamse Bos was constructed in the 1930s, one goal was paramount: to create a pleasant place for all Amsterdammers. Because of high unemployment at the time, the City of Amsterdam started this project to help people find work. Today, both residents and visitors enjoy the magnificent nature, various animals and, in spring, the beautiful blossoms.
