Cycle route Rotterdam from all sides
Rotterdam, Kralingen, Charlois
Rotterdam is a city full of sights: of course there is the huge port, the Erasmus Bridge and the Euromast. You will see it all on this cycle route in the city on the Nieuwe Maas river, which you will pass, over and under.
The route doesn't skip historic Delfshaven. Swing along the cycle paths through the port city to get to know it from all sides. Almost all parts of the city pass by!
From Charlois (pronounced "Sjaarloos") on the southern bank of the Maas, which was an independent municipality until 1895 and was named after Charles the Bold, to north-western Overschie, with its own historic centre full of old churches and a 'Raedthuys'.
Via Crooswijk and Kralingen in the east, you cycle past the Kralingseplas and the Kralingsebos, discovering the rural surroundings as soon as you leave the city limits. Then, the famous Erasmus Bridge brings you back into the southern part of the city.
From the bridge, look out onto Noordereiland, Wilhelminapier and Gebouw De Rotterdam, before you emerge into Feijenoord, which was itself an island centuries ago. This is why the locals say they are ón Rotterdam-South, while they are ín Rotterdam-North. Of course, a visit to De Kuip is a must!
