Cycle route Putten & Voorthuizen

Putten, Voorthuizen
Putten, a charming village on the Veluwe, is a great destination for anyone who loves nature, history and variety along the way. As you cycle through the streets, you’ll soon notice the village’s rich history: centuries-old street names, characteristic farms and small details in the landscape that all hint at a distant past.
The surroundings of Putten are wonderfully diverse. Forests, heathlands, polders and lakes follow each other in quick succession, making every kilometre refreshingly different. In the Speulderbos, famous for its 'dancing trees', it’s pure joy to cycle in peace among ancient oaks and beeches. On the edge of the village you’ll find Landgoed Schovenhorst, with its impressive arboretum and lookout tower. If you cycle a bit further, you’ll pass the Wilbrinkbos near Voorthuizen, where forest, open fields and sandy soil alternate.
Along the way, you’ll pass windmills, old farmsteads and places where stories are kept alive, such as the monument ‘The Lady of Putten’ and the Historical Museum in the village centre. Here you’ll not only sense the atmosphere of the present but also that of generations before you.
