On the site of the current mill there was already a post mill in 1662. This mill was replaced in 1721 by a mill with the name De Kat. This mill was blown over in 1820 and rebuilt soon after. In 1897 the old mill burned down and was replaced by the current stone mill. During construction, the miller feared that the flight would become too big and therefore decided not to build higher. During the liberation of Zeeland-Flanders in the autumn of 1944, the mill was shot at, while many people had sought protection in the mill. With the support of the State, the mill was restored in 1947 and was given the current name Nooitgedacht. The mill was decommissioned in 1951. Thanks to all kinds of fundraising activities, the mill could be restored in a grindy condition again in 1976.
