Memorial for allied fliers - Harderwijk

N 52.349374 / E 5.613028

In the water, you can see a monument in memory of the 117 crew members of Allied aircraft that perished in Harderwijk or its immediate surroundings during World War II.

Artist Arend Kleinpaste (Harderwijk 1955) designed the crashed plane, with its wing broken off, made of corten steel. This was at the initiative of the Stichting Monument Geallieerden Harderwijk.

The sculpture was placed in collaboration with the Royal Air Force with a Chinook helicopter they supplied.
