The history of the Spansderswoud country estate starts in 1634 when Andries Bicker acquires this plot. Bicker was a leading Amsterdam merchant who traded in spices. The house itself is not open to the public. At the Spanderswoud country estate, you will see a mishmash of garden styles. There must once have been a lot of coppice in Spanderswoud, because the country house is named after it.
